I build a detailed background for each client, covering health, educational development, strengths, and challenges—gathered through a questionnaire.
For learners under 16: Parents/carers complete the questionnaire, and with permission, I contact the school to review past assessments and support.
For adults: You’ll share your own educational experiences, current challenges in work or study, and any strengths or difficulties you’ve noticed. This helps tailor the assessment to your needs.
Before the assessment, all clients must have had a sight test within the last 12 months (a hearing test is ideal too). Referrals can be made via GPs, schools, or employers.
Most importantly, learners of all ages should know this isn’t a test—it’s about understanding how they learn and finding ways to make things easier.
A full assessment takes 2–3 hours, with breaks or split sessions if needed.
I know an unfamiliar ‘test’ setting can feel daunting—especially for those with dyslexia or learning differences. My approach is flexible and reassuring, adapting to each person’s needs. We’ll start with a chat so you feel comfortable, and I’ll always listen to your thoughts.
The assessment includes puzzles and tasks covering:
For parents/carers of under-16s: You’re welcome to wait nearby (parking is available on the private driveway). The assessment room is visible from the car, and there’s toilet access.
Rest assured, I’m fully qualified, DBS-checked, and here to help—not judge.
At the end, I’ll share initial insights and answer your questions. The goal is to identify dyslexia (if present) and highlight your unique learning style—this isn’t about pass or fail, but about finding what works for you.
Within 2–3 weeks, you’ll receive a detailed report, including:
This report is yours to share with teachers, employers, or anyone who can help you succeed.
Sarah will complete the assessment in this room with the aim of making each client feel happy, comfortable and raring to go!
The price is lower to visit Sarah at her home and she can assess during evenings, weekends and school holidays.
There is a slight increase in price to assess in schools due to travel expenses and the length of time to assess, due to the structure of the school day.
